Around The Garden

Look what we found in our garden today. Two Rainbow Lorikeets. Leah and I were inside watching 'This Is It' with Michael Jackson and we here a different bird call outside. We went to investigate and found two of these beautiful birds in a gum tree. We haven't had this type of parrot here before. Aren't they beautiful.

Bella wasn't too happy that our attention wasn't on her and her squeeky bone. She loves us throwing her bone to her when we are outside. She purposely makes it squeek to get our attention.
Pepper is in dire need of a trim at the moment. Our feral fluffball.

King Parrots

This morning I received a visit from these guys. You may remember when I first posted about them way back on the day before my surgery for breast cancer http://dawnstan.blogspot.com/2006/07/king-parrot.html

These birds appeared a few days before every chemo (no other time) and then everytime I have had a scare or a major oncology appointment. The last time they visited was November last year when I had a scare and had a series of mammograms.

I don't have an appointment at oncology for two weeks so they are a little early. We don't have any King Parrots in the area so they always surprise me when they fly onto the verandah especially when it can go six months or more between visits.

This morning Mum had a hysterectomy. Wishing mum all the best and hoping she isn't in too much pain over the coming weeks. Donna picked up some magazines, chocolate and scratchies and put them in a gift bag from us. Thanks Donna.

My View This Morning

Snake!!!

Look what Jason found under a pile of star pickets near the shed.

It's quite late in the season for snakes. This little one was quite sleepy and must have already gone into hibernation.

High Tea Party

Kady requested a 'High Tea' party for her 17th this year. After having such a great time enjoying high tea at the Windsor a few weeks ago we began planning her birthday high tea. We had so much fun choosing the menu, the teas and Kady enjoyed setting the table with a variety of our dinner sets, glasses and 'good stuff'.

Here's the table all set up waiting for Kady's guests to arrive.

Fruit punch.

The menu and the tea list. Click to enlarge to read it. We accidently left Creme Brulee off the menu.

Savouries. We had two platters of open sandwiches, quiches, voluvents and mini toasts.

Miss Leah.

Some of the sweets. we bought some ready made Petit Fours from a local bakery. He is an ex pastry chef from the Windsor.

One of the teas. A flower that opens up after steeping in the tea for a bit.

The guests in their formal attire.

Nick and Kady.

They all had such a lovely day. So nice to see teenagers getting all dressed up. We are lucky Kady has such a lovely group of friends.

Easter Morning

This bunny looks a little evil hiding behind the bird house.

Love now that the kids are a bit older we don't have 5 o'clock wake ups to see what the Easter Bunny has brought.

The egg hunt begins.

Kady found one of the evil bunnies.

Bella had watched where the Easter Bunny hid all the eggs and she was quick to join in the hunt. Kady rescued this one out of her mouth but gave in . I know dogs aren't meant to have chocolate but she did really love it.

Kasey supervised the egg hunt from the wood pile and Pepper decided it was too cold to come out of her house.

Koala Heaven

We are so lucky to live where we live and get to share our block of land with these beautiful animals. This male koala has been here for about two months on and off. He is a little smelly and we can usually smell him before we see him at the moment. He's a big healthy boy and our two dogs don't seem to worry him at all as quite often he will move trees during the day.

We have two koala's here at the moment. The second one is this little tagged girl. She's a little more timid than the male and tends to stay higher up in the trees.

Kady starts year 11 this year and is doing a VCE subject units 3 & 4 and lots of maths and science. Leah is starting year 8 and is looking forward to doing a few new subjects this year.

A Photo A Day

Thought I would try taking a photo a day for 2011. Not sure how I will go when I am back at university and working heaps but I will try to take one a day. It will be lovely to look back on a year on.

Raspberries picked from our garden. We have so many this year. Lovely.

J and I having a late lunch in Malmsbury with Kady and Leah.
New floorboards in the lounge, dining, kitchen, family room. We need to pick up a few new rugs. On the look out for a new modular couch. No hurry just looking for something that will suit our space.
