I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker With Flowers In My Hair

MUM Don't CRY.

I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair..............................................................

Only problem, I now have next to no hair.

Did I do it. Yes I did.

Well I finally did it. Bit the bullet and had my hair cut then shaved off this Father's Day. Poor MIL was a bit sad as well as my girls but I am so happy. It feels so good. It is so liberating. Pity it took CANCER to shave my hair off. I hope all who read my blog go and donate some money to support Breast Cancer research.

I got MIL to cut off a pony tail for me to keep. I want to be able to compare colour etc when it regrows in about 7 or so months.

As my hair was being cut off, I thought to myself. should I feel sad. No I didn't. I have never been a HAIR person. Most of the time I have never been happy with my style or colour etc. After cutting off my hair I realisedI didn't have a single grey hair. I wonder if it will grow back grey ( i have heard it does and wavy).

I was so scared to look at the pics.
I just sat here and cried, but you do look good.
I had to look twice at one of the pics, you look so much like donna.
Well it is done now, but you dont look a bit like uncle Fester.
I feel so sad now your hair has gone.

Dawn,

Hi! I am Beverly and you posted on my blog about my breast cancer a while back. I have been out of town and trying to get back to the routine of life and blogging. Thanks for posting--it is great to connect with another person on this journey through blog-land!

Since my last post, I have had my last treatment, and am preparing for surgery on September 11th. I tested positive for the breast cancer gene and so will be having a double mastectomy. Later on, we will deal with the ovaries as well.

Congratulations on having the courage to shave your head. It IS freeing, isn't it? And fast! Lots of time saved in the morning!

I also have commented about how my bald head has made my cancer so visible to others. It seemed odd, because in my situation, my second lumpectomy yeilded clean margins and nodes, so I was essentially cancer free when I began my treatments. What I have found, though, is that some people will talk to me because of my baldness. They have a story of a family member, etc. I have walked away from those consversations encouraged and blessed!

Thanks again for posting, and God bless you with strength, peace, and joy during this time.

You look fabulous Dawn! The short hair really suits you!! Great before photos by Paula! I often get tbe urge to shave my head because I have this frizzy hair that I hate dealing with, but I can't quite bring myself to do it.
