Yes we are finally escaping the clutches of oh so slow dial up. Telstra have finally after years of Jason filling in applications decided to allow us (and our area) to connect up and join the rest of the world. We are rural but really not that far out to be not in line with most of the country.
Next week we will run at a speed of 512 compared to 16.8 kps (when the lady from Telstra rang me today). She thought I said 168 and I had to repeat. We normally run at about 31 if we are lucky but sometimes we run at much much less. Very frustrating. Looking forward to catching up with the rest of the country. We will even be a few dollars ahead once we get rid of the second phone line (for internet due to crappy mobile reception we needed two phone lines), call costs and internet fees. We have even changed the phone over to telstra so will benefit (due to combining, mobile, phone and internet) to get half price broadband for a year with better std phone call rates and a great international rate of $1 for ten minutes overseas. What out English relies. I will be ringing once it takes effect.
