Our Day (Part One)

The entrance to St Kilda Adventure Playground. A grassed walkway in. No parking area. Other than side steets with a few hours to park. Harder to find than you expect but lovely. So many one way streets you would want to pull your hair out if you you had it (well for me anyway).

We had a hot and grumpy day. Most family members were so hot it was hard to feel good all day. We had temps in the mid 30 but around the beach felt way over 40. (click on the pics for detail).
Entering the playground. We passed a few cup and bowls. Looked liked someone enjoyed brekkie on the grass .
It must be so cool to live near here if you don't have anywhere to play.

This guy was cute.

Did I mention the entire playground is made from recycled materials and volunteers. Lots of cubby houses and cool paint jobs.
the rocking horse. Very cool.

The flying fox. The girls has so much fun on this. It was little hard for the shorter kids to bring the rope with the fox back up. Jason helped them hand it back up to the top of the tower.

The pretend ice-cream shop.

They said there were chickens but these were the only ones we spotted (maybe south Melbourne housed them as there is another park there with a few wave slides etc) . Maybe in the pond area a few may have been hidden but you aren't allowed to run around in there so it was hard to see. We spotted a billy cart area and a trampoline area. the trampoline had a cool coke style bottle timer so each kid got a fair go on the tramp.

Any Indian's around. We didn't spot any. Opposite the pirate ship.

Not what I expected. Much smaller but oh so much packed into a small space. There is also one in South Melbourne that has the large slides. Hard to find and hard to park. Lots of one way streets but lots of one to two hour parking. Very well signposted but when our Melways (dated five years ago) shows a huge carpark you realise Melways is way out of date lol. You need to park on a main street and walk in. After all it was designed for neighbour hood kids who live with no back yards. The staff we met were fab. Spoke to a guy who was more interested in my camera than anything else but he was very informative. Did give us a quick rundown of the park and what was available. Free coffee in the open air parents lounge and water. BBQ area but very small. Donations accepted which we readily handed over. 'After all they have done an great job.
A great space but we were there on a day that was way too hot. Very brightly painted and lots of fun. 35 was way too hot for this day though. There is a lot of shade available but the day we went was so humid and way to hot, di d I metion very hot.
For the rest of the day I will update shortly.
