School Days

Yesterday I managed to complete another very simple school layout. The scan is shocking. It is actually burgundy and a light blue grey. It looks very blue in the scan.

This photo was taken on Tony’s first day of primary school in 1977. I was starting grade three. We lived in Rome Street in Toowoomba, on the corner, and my best friend Glenda lived across the street at the corner shop. We attended Newtown State School. Tony hated school from day one, whereas I adored school. I loved every little thing about school right up until I left in grade twelve. I began school in England when I was three and a half (September, 1972) and finished high school when I was four months off turning nineteen (November 1987). I went to four primary schools, Carlton Hill Primary School (in England), Newtown State School. Southbrook State School and Kingsthorpe State School. I also attended four highschools. I began highschool at Oakey State High School and then in year nine we moved over to England and I went to Hailsham Secondary College. We lived in England for two years before returning to Australia. I went to Harristown High School for about two months and finished off the end of the year in grade eleven. Mum and Dad bought a house in Oakey so at the start of the new year (1986), I began grade eleven. I had to go back a year so that I could get my highschool certificate and TE score that was only issued if you completed year eleven and twelve in Australia. Tony also went back a year and started grade nine. Photo’s taken 1977, journaling August 2006

We were so lucky to get the pair of you together, Tony was always under the house with his trucks,.
Where did the years go, wish you could have stayed that age, then you would not remember me as the meanest mum. lol
