Longleat Safari Park

Another simple page for my childhood album. Yes the cute little chubby kid is me.

journaling reads

These photos were taken in 1970. Mum thinks I was about 14 months old. Dad seems to think it may have been Easter as it was a long weekend (Easter was at the end of March). Mum, Dad and I went away for the long weekend with Nanny and Granddad in their campervan. Dad said him and Mum slept in the top section of the van and I slept on the floor. One of the places we visited was Longleat Safari Park. The park was opened in 1966 and caused a revolution in the world of zoological collections by becoming the first location outside of Africa to open a drive through safari park. Longleat house is also part of the park and is close to 600 years old. Dad took the black and white photos near the gift store and Granddad took the colour photo of Mum, Dad, Nanny and myself standing near the Zebra. I love how Nanny is standing a little back from the zebra keeping me at a safe distance. You can just see the top of Granddad’s blue van behind the zebra.

Nice pic, I love that one, you were so cute.
I was pregnent with Tony when that was taken.
I think I was only a few weeks.
Grandad spent all day running after you, you were a real live wire.
