This is a layout I have done for Karen's Kupboard using the lovely daisy d papers. I scanned the original photo (which was quite small) and printed it out larger for the layout. The photo is quite blurry which is a shame as it would have been lovely to see their faces a little better. Most of the information about them I found out during years of tracing my family history and also stories from my nanny.

This photo is of my Great Grandparents Alfred and Sarah Tester. Sadly they both passed away a few years before I was born. Alfred David James Tester was born in 1886 in Chaldon Surrey and died 27th November 1966 at 7a Holding,Uckfield road,Ringmer,Sussex. Alfred was a gunner during the First World War. He served in France and was in a military hospital in Malta. Alfred and Sarah owned a pub called The Cock Public House in Little Haddam. Sarah ran the pub whilst Alfred was away with the war. Sarah Elizabeth Spencer was born 9th June 1885 in Chaldon and died 25th April 1962 in Lewes. Alfred and Sarah married on 24th December 1910 at the parish church in Coulsdon, Surrey. At the time of their marriage Alfred lived at Rook Farm in Chaldon and was the farm manager and Sarah lived at Newlands Cottages in Coulsdon Surrey. Alfred and Sarah lived on three farms after running the pub. Sheffield Park whilst Granddad was at school, then Cock Hays Mill and Firle Manor in Beddington. Photo taken late 1950’s or early 1960’s.
