The arbour is nearly finished. Jason built in on Saturday and I painted for four hours on Sunday. It still needs the strips down the side and the pretty decorative things on top and then it will be finished. We had planned on painting it a slightly lighter green to blend in with all our other greens. The local hardware store had a ten litre tin of paint made up into the wrong colour (think forest, army green) so we snapped up a bargain for $70 so now I can paint the kids cubby and other things too. The strips of wood and other things left to add on will be in cream. Can't wait to plant a lovely wisteria on it. The lighting in the picture isn't the best as the sun was beginning to get low.

Here are the steps that Jason did on the weekend. They have been cut out of solid clay (our entire block is clay) for over 18 months and now he has cemented over the top. The cement is a lovely clay colour (hard to see in the photo due to the lighting) and really blends in well with the surrounding ground (note lack of grass due to lack of rain). This weekend he is going to cement rocks along the edges. Now I just need lots of rain to make the plants grow.
