Today was a scorcher. We have spent most of the day swimming. Firstly in our pool, then down to a local pool for Kady to hang out with some friends, back home and back in our pool. Jason and I even ended up cooling off this afternoon. It has to be really warm for me to get in the pool. It was so refreshing. The temperature reached 41 here today with a hot dry wind. We are grateful for our air conditioner. A friends hubby got sent home from work as the shed they all work in reached 46 degrees.
Other news. It's that time of year again and we have five little ducklings. Another is hatching as I type. We lost another three on top of these. Indian Runner ducks aren't the best Mum's. Our older female duck, Daph decided after number four that she would leave her nest (luckily the other female duck, whose eggs were all duds, decided to take over the nest). I ended up pulling one out of the shell this morning after Daph left the nest. Now it's inside (as Mum won't accept it) and thinks Kady and I are Mum. Every time it loses site of us it beeps lol. We are going to keep it till Friday and then my neighbour will adopt it. The others are going to a local lady. The kids are begging us to keep them all. We have a few black and some chocolate coloured ones. Very cute.
I hope you are all managing to keep cool tonight. We are having a quiet New Years at home. Thinking of Mich and Lee in Sydney seeing the new year in. Have fun climbing the bridge tomorrow. I hope everyone has a fantastic new year. Wishing everyone good health, much happiness and lots of special times spent with family and friends.

I can't believe it's so hot in Australia. It's freezing around here.
Love and happy 2008, Isolde
