As a family we are trying to make an effort to eat out once a month and try somewhere new each time. Last week, we were all tired after a busy week so decided to go to a local hotel for dinner. Every year I say I want to take part in the Holden Ute Grunt Off. This year I did. It was so much fun. Our legs were a little wobbley at the end but we did it and we won our heat. On Sunday I went to pick Kady up from work and Leah and I noticed the most unusual cloud rolling in. Within minutes it covered our local Mt. and rolled in all around us. It was so dark. We later realised it was a combination of fog and an ash cloud from Chile. Felt a little creative yesterday and made this canvas. Not sure if I will add more to it but I love how it turned out. The canvas is about 50cm x 60cm. The background was painted using Adirondack Lettuce Colour Wash and then resprayed for depth.It's a little hard to see in the photo. We have a new butcher in our nearby town. I'm not sure if there has ever been a butcher in town before but this guy has the loveliest produce. Everything is brought in and prepared on site. Soup mad here at the moment. This is a family favourite (well all except Leah who doesn't like the texture). It's healthy, hearty and quite low fat. It can be made vegetarian/vegan by omitting the bacon. Use lots of fresh basil and oregano if you have that at hand as it makes it taste evenier yummier. After the cyclone devastation up in North Queensland the price of Banana's skyrocketed. I still like to buy them when they are a little cheaper. This week Aldi had ladyfingers for $10.99 a kilo and standard banana's for $9.99 a kilo. I bought four ladyfingers.

One thing I really miss about living in England is the range of lollies and crisps. Our local supermarket now have and English section and I love nothing more than stocking up on a few favourites. I think Kady and Leah love the 'Jelly Babies' as much as I do. Leah's favourite are the 'Jelly Tots'.

Labour Day public holiday we decided to go to Werribee Gorge with friends to celebrate mine and Debbies birthday. I was turning 42 the day after and Debbie had just turned 52. We had a great day. We are so lucky to live where we live and get to share our block of land with these beautiful animals. This male koala has been here for about two months on and off. He is a little smelly and we can usually smell him before we see him at the moment. He's a big healthy boy and our two dogs don't seem to worry him at all as quite often he will move trees during the day. We have two koala's here

It's that time again. The holidays have flown by and once again we get back into the routine of early mornings, homework and school lunches. Tonight I cooked Seafood Marinara. You can't go wrong with this recipe for scones. Today I made two different batches. One plain and one with sultana's. Ingredients 3 cups self raising flour 1 cup cream 1 cup lemonade 1. Mix together with a wooden spoon until combined. Tip out onto a floured bench and knead for a short while until the ingredients are fully combined. 2. Use a glass or a scone cutter to cut out your scones.

We have had more rain in the last few months that what we have had in ages. In August we had the highest rainfall in 130years. Leah had four days off this week from school. She began with a vomiting but which thankfully didn't last long and then had the flu. Hoping she doesn't share it around. Made this for breakfast for during the week (photo from ninemsn).
